Don't get caught with Smelly Latex Backed Artificial Grass!

So many people get caught out with the marketing term "Child and Pet Friendly". You would assume that if you are a dog owner it means that the grass is resistant to dog urine odours. But NO, it means that it won't harm your child or dog because it's free from harmful things such as lead, cadmium and zinc.

In other words "Pet Friendly" has no relevance to urine odour resistance. What you need is "Pet Specific" or "Dog Specific" artificial grass. But there is more, to significantly reducing the risk of odours, it needs to be installed over a "special"  fast draining sub-base. The usual Type 1, whin dust, grano and sand may not be the best option. Sand in particular is a really bad option because it holds uric acid crystals from the dogs urine causing smells, encourages weed growth, it cannot be fully compacted, it sinks, it washes away and can have problems with ants nesting.

AVOID child and pet friendly latex artificial grass  because it will smell badly, especially on the wrong sub-base. Around 97% of artificial grass on the market is this type.
